Why is it pronounced with a hard 'g'? it doesn't make sense. vegetable, vegetarian, vegetate etc, all have soft g's. why is vegan with a hard g?

If you had meat eating friends over for dinner what would you give them to eat to prove to them how good vegan food can be?

I would take them to teany, my little restaurant, and give them the faux-turkey club sandwich and some vegan chocolate cheesecake. they would be converted.

You're always saying how much you miss your caf� in NYC TeaNY - Do you have your own cook on tour? What is typical day's tour menu?

On tour i eat remarkably well. i eat steamed broccoli with ginger, baked tempeh, and brown rice almost every day.

You are a great advert for a vegan diet - full of energy - leaping from one side of the stage to the other - how do you keep so fit?

I eat fairly well, i exercise fairly regularly, and i love to move around.

If you could hypnotize President GW Bush what are the main US policy changes you would influence him to make?

Stop subsidizing oil production. stop subsidizing meat and dairy production. stop subsidizing tobacco production. stop subsidizing coal productions. eliminate special interest corporate lobbying groups.

What would you do if you were responsible for The Vegan Society? (apart from move to a bigger office) What do you think would be most likely to encourage more people to be vegan?

We should all be happy and relaxed in our efforts to get people to accept and embrace veganism. no one likes a miserable, strident, didactic vegan. veganism should be a happy thing, not a miserable one. and we shouldn't make people feel bad or guilty for their lifestyle choices, even if they reject veganism.

You've been a finalist in The Vegetarian Society Achievement Awards Twice now - what can we do together to make it 3rd time lucky? It would be good to have a Vegan Society Patron winning ;-) What about a vegan recipe section on your award winning website? Or The vegan Mobydog hotdog available in cinemas and Disneylands throughout the world?

Anyone who comes into teany and tries our food will be converted. teany is a vegetarian restaurant for non-vegetarians, basically. by that i mean that teany is vegetarian food that even non-vegetarians can like, in an environment that is fun and accepting, not rigid and monastic.

If you were the interviewer what question would you ask you? And what's the answer?

How does veganism affect your sex life? answer: wonderfully.

What would you do if you couldn't make music anymore?

Become an architect.

Peoples attitudes to veganism seemed to have improved tremendously in The last year - There was even a Vegan Smirnoff poster - If you released the album Animal Rights today do you think it would fare better?

No. It's a dark and difficult record.

What do you look for in the perfect partner? Would you have a Relationship with a meat eater?

I'd rather have a relationship with a compassionate and happy meat eater than with a cruel and miserable vegan. ideally i'd love to have a relationship with a compassionate and happy vegan, though.

Can you see yourself as a dad? My son is eating meat now (my daughter is still a veggie) - Would it bother you if your kids grew up to be omnivores?

I don't judge peoples lifestyle choices. it would bother me if my kids grew up to be omnivores because i would worry about their health, longterm.

Do you know Steve Jobs from Apple Computers? Can you get him to ring us?

I don't know him.
